The Gossamer Gear Kumo Superlight backpack is a tough, smaller volume pack that is loaded with new fabrics and features.  Built on the old Murmur platform but constructed largely of our custom 100d and 200d Robic fabric. The Kumo was named in honor of our great friends and customers in Japan as well as to describe the pack itself. Kumo is Japanese for "Cloud", and can also mean "Spider".

The Kumo continues the use of our OTT (Over-the-Top™) closure system with an added zippered pocket there for quick access to vital goods.  Both side pockets are constructed of our Robic fabric to minimize snagging and increase durability. The big back pocket in made from our power mesh with a new angled top to allow easy access. We have opted for a 1.5"  webbing for the removable hipbelt for solid weight transfer and load control. The Kumo also features our new more ergonomic shoulder strap harness and a EZClip sternum strap and accessory mounting system. The Gossamer Gear Kumo also sports a lashing system for squeezing and hanging your gear with.   As always there is a pad holder pocket on the front that will accept the included Sitlight as well as many other pads.

We also offer a belt with pockets that can be purchased as an add on for this product.

We recommend the Kumo SuperLight backpack for total weights below 25lbs. Recommended uses are backpacking, dayhiking, travel (can be used as a carry-on bag),  mountaineering and any other appropriate adventure.

My backpack of choice for any overnight adventureReview by Twinkle
I used the first generation pack for over 3,000 miles in 2014, and it is hands down the best backpack I have ever used. The updated version, with new Robic fabric, not only lives up to the standards set on the first version, but improved upon it with upgraded padding in the wide spread shoulder straps, and new Robic fabric. This will continue to be my go to pack, as its versatility and durability, coupled with low weight make it the perfect pack for any backpacking adventure! (Posted on 1/13/15)
good one, a great trade-off between weight, durability, and volumeReview by vdoak
I'm an old "grunt". To most folks an Infantryman. I have spent a lot of my working years with a backpack on my back. This one is light but tough. It does what I expect, but then again does not weigh as much as I would expect, especially considering what it can do. Inside of 20 lbs a great ruck! (Posted on 12/27/13)
Great weekend packReview by Brian
I've had this pack for a year now and I love it a little bit more because I just received the new hip belt pockets. I like having pockets that I can get to for snacks during my hike. I tried the Z Packs hip belt pockets and they were just to big and I do not care for the top closure they use. I can get about 4-5 days of ultralight gear and food into this pack and it carries well with under 20lbs. (Posted on 12/6/13)
Perfect PackReview by Danieldanger
I didn't buy this pack at first because I was worried it was too small. I also worried the hip belt would hurt my tummy. I bought it on sale and my worries have since dropped away. I have used this pack on about 3 backpacking trips solo w all my ultralight gear fitting easily inside. I also hike at the local park about 4 days a week, always with this pack. The shoulder straps are the real magic as they displace the pack weight to a point you feel you're wearing a very comfortable vest. The pack is designed to carry a light, simple kit, so the hip belt works just fine if my pack is 20lbs or less. It basically holds the pack to you're body better. It sits high on my torso, which is comfortable, and the packs hugs my back, no sloppy hanging. (Oh and the back mesh pocket is perfect, as you can access it while walking)! (Posted on 9/20/13)
Great lightweight and durable pack!Review by James
I have been using this pack every week for short forays into the coast range around my home in Toledo, Oregon. I'm carrying 13 to 18 lbs of gear for trail runs and hiking. It is very comfortable and durable. Some of my hikes include bushwhacking and the back pack is holding up well to vines and brush. The opening is a bit small, but I'm getting used to packing it. I really like the pockets for stashing snacks, dog leash, water, and rain cover for the pack. Thanks for creating a great pack! (Posted on 2/13/13)
Exalent quility fast shippingReview by timthefatkid
Nice little to mid size pack. quality is out standing
Great for super ultralight pack definitely would recommend
Bought this pack over hyperlite because of belt size
I'm 6' tall 300# . Belt could be a little bigger for me. But I'll make it work. Way more fetchers than hyper lite
Over all extremely happy with this purchase.

Will buy G4 for winter pack. The value & cargo size are what I'm looking for. Plane on keeping in truck for Justin case kit to hold bulker clothes & lower rated sleeping bag.Plus everthing else I Carrie Ultralight backpacking

Thank again for a great product
