The 2012 Murmur™ Hyperlight Backpack has been rigorously redesigned to be tougher, more comfortable and work better, with minimal weight gain. We use a superior grade domestic 30 denier slinylon for the main pack body and select use of our all-new, custom 140 denier dyneema gridstop for high wear and reinforced areas making this the toughest Murmur ever. To our knowledge no other pack maker uses this weight dyneema and we believe it is the ideal fabric for UL packs.
The 2012 Murmur™ debuts several firsts for us. It features our new Over the Top™ closure system. This is a very light but secure closure which is easy to use and also protects and controls your gear. Another first on this pack is our new, more ergonomic harness system. The shoulder straps are now a bit shorter, have a gentle comfy curve to them, and for the first time ever we are sewing the foam into the straps. The padded portion of the harness is the same width as always at the top for comfort and the new shape ensures a better fit for for more body types - women especially will find the fit much improved. This pack also launches our new sternum/torso stabilizer strap that allows for several different configurations letting the end user tailor the set up to their preference.
The 2012 Murmur™ Hyperlight backpack now comes with a SitLight™ pad included. It is a one size fits most backpack. As always the Murmur™ has a 3/4 webbing only "hipbelt", intended to stabilize the load only. There are two hip belts included, regular and extra large, to help tailor the fit. It also comes with 3' of shock cord and 3 mini-cordlocks.
This pack is for EXTREMELY low weights and volumes and, for comfort, we recommend total loads of 15lbs or less. The Murmur is not ideal for bushwhacking, look to the Gorilla, Minimalist, or soon to return Mini backpacks for more off trail shenanigans.
"I've put hundreds of miles on my Murmur both hiking and running, it's become my go-to pack. Now with improved mesh and a slightly lighter weight it somehow managed to get even better." - Steve Burgess, GG Trail Ambassador and filmmaker.
"I've used Glen's great Murmur pack for the last two years, close to seven thousand miles. Did those treks with only two, one for each year--check out Odyssey 2009NCT, Odyssey 2010AZT, 2010PNT! It's a very comfortable pack, rides well--all business. Keep in mind, the Murmur is designed for ultra light-weight use. Even with multiple days of food (I carry water in a belt pouch) my packweight seldom exceeds 12-15 pounds." Eb Eberhart, aka Nimblewill Nomad
"Comment: so I got to take my Murmur 2012 out this weekend. Wow. This is definitely my new favorite pack and handled 10-11lbs like a champ! If I left the hammock at home and just took the tarp, I could absolutely use this thing for a week-long outing, no problem. I love that I can fit two of the 1L Glaceau smart water bottles in a side pocket, like they were made for it.
