Description

Description

Use this ultralight ground cloth to substitute or protect your tent floor. This foot print is also used with our tarp shelters. This product is designed with the hiker in mind to keep the weight off your back and dirt off your sleeping bag. It is constructed from industrial grade cross-linked polyolefin. What this means is that it is extremely tough for its weight with amazing puncture resistance and economical to boot! These ground cloths are absolutely clear, so you can see if you missed any pebbles or pine cones after you put your ground cloth down. It would also serve well as a solar still in an emergency situation. This stuff is amazingly tough for it's weight, and can help shave those last few grams off your pack weight. Note: You can trim to any size with scissors. Since these sheets are made from shrink film they will shrink slightly when exposed to extreme heat.

Most likely a one-time use for long-distance hikesReview by smuglife

Used the same medium polycryo ground sheet over two weeks along the JMT and it kept the floor of my 1P tent clean from dirt and moisture. Compared to an OEM footprint or even a Tyvek ground cloth, it's extremely lightweight and reasonably priced for the convenience. While the ground sheet easily attracts debris and is noisy/difficult to shake out, I kept the dirty side folded up in a ziplock bag for storage and tucked it into my shelter stuff sack. Since the material is so flimsy and thin, care should be taken when using rocks as weights, especially on firm ground. At the end of my trip, the sheet had torn in a few places and was pretty grimey so I threw it out. You can't really "wash" this material, it's basically like cellophane. Realistically, it's single-use for for the long-distance hiker but may last longer for short weekend trips on drier, sandier terrain. I definitely recommend it to other lightweight backpackers who are also "clean freaks" because it's still an extra item and you probably don't really NEED a ground sheet with a tent. My husband and I have a Tarptent (hog back) and I purchased polycryo to see how it would do for a footprint on the AT. We encountered cold snowy weather, rain and high winds. The polycryo worked great! It insulated the floor of our tent, kept us dry and reduced uncomfortable roots and rocks that we could not avoid. Never punctured a hole until I accidentally put a knife tip through the one edge but the hole is very small.
Other hikers on the trail were using Tyvek and some were having issues with wet tents.
Weight is next to nothing and dries easy. Easy to fold and pack. had multiple uses for us: rain cover, ground cover to sit and have lunch on, wind barrier to eat behind. The list goes on. (Posted on 5/22/16)

This ultralight groundcloth is excellent for cutting pack weight and still keeping the job done. I have used mine for three years now for remote Alaska hunting trips. I go in with a lighter pack and have never worried about my tent or sleeping pad (I often use a cuben fiber tarp). (Posted on 4/7/16)

I love the Polycro groundsheets ... durable over pebbles and most Texas ground.
Can't quite survive too many of Texas' spiky plants, but what can? So lightweight and very durable, I LOVE 'EM !

More durable than expected, lasted through a 2 month thru-hike, gotta like the low weight and low volume. Still use occasionally for overnights. Medium fits under a BA Fly Creek 2 perfectly. (Posted on 11/6/15)

Even though it looks like saran wrap these are incredibly durable. I used one medium cloth the entire PCT in 2013 (and kept using it for 2 more years until I gave it to someone). It does the job and weighs pretty much nothing. (Posted on 7/22/15)
