- Very light, surprised by durability Review by Rainer
-
I lost one of my Leki Makalu poles in a river crossing in the Sierras on my PCT hike, I hiked all the way to Washington with one pole which ended up giving me one really bad shin splint. I was offered an LT4 pole to borrow for the rest of the trip to see if it helped my shin. It did. I had always thought these carbon fiber poles were super delicate and would break like a tooth pick if any odd weight or force was applied to them, but several times this pole got caught in rocks or I slipped with enough force to bend my leki, and to my surprise the LT4 didn't break. I know that they do and can break but they seemed much more durable than I had thought. It was rather awkward having one pole that weighed half as much as my other though.
