- Very good trekking poles besides one fact Review by Matheau1620

These poles have served me very well on many hikes and backpacking adventures but I just recently bought the Leki snow baskets and put them on these poles to use them for snowshoeing. The baskets fit on quite well but with the cold up on the Mt., I did have to crank them down fairly hard in order for them to stay in place, and I still had some instances that they did not hold and would have to re-tighten them. Besides the difficulty of having them hold in the cold, I have not had any problems with them when the temps are not around or below freezing (Posted on 2/25/13)Price Value Quality - Pretty perfect poles Review by Huckleberry

I wouldn't change anything. They feel so nice in my hands I see no reason why I wouldn't always use them. (Posted on 1/7/13)Price Value Quality - Excellent but not idiot-proof Review by Wandering Bob

I've had these ever since they became available. I gave away my Leki metal poles in favor of these. I took them on the PCT and proved they were not idiot-proof by snapping the lower section of one while descending Kearsarge Pass by foolishly levering it over an immovable rock. I knew better but still....... Carbon fibers have tremendous strength when force is applied parallel to them but are prone to catastrophic breaks when that force is applied perpendicular to the fibers. This is not a design fault by GG, but rather a limitiation of the material used. Every piece of gear has its limits (i.e. Cuben fiber) and it is the user's responsibility to know those and not to exceed them.Price Value Quality
GG replaced the broken section for free and I've used them for several years on the PCT and CT without further problems.
Now if they only weren't so expensive........but they are worth the price. Other hikers I've met are amazed at the ultra-light weight. (Posted on 10/12/12) - excellent in every respect Review by cairogeorgia

In truth, I was reluctant to buy these poles because I'm a big guy, 6'4", 235 lbs, AND I was on a limited budget. But these poles performed far better than expected, and are one of the best investment I've made. They should be ranked right up there with The Big 3. Their feather weight will noticeably reduce fatigue, and they are strong enough for the stoutest of hikers, if you treat them with respect and care. In all honesty, these poles have improved my life on the trail, allowing me a faster, longer pace. To anyone reading this review with the same reservations, I encourage you to take the plunge. You will not regret buying these poles. (Posted on 5/29/12)Price Value Quality - Wow - Incredible poles for their weight !!! Review by Manimal

I'm pretty tough on gear being a long distance hiker and have used the other guys ultra light poles for a few years. I tend to break poles pretty easy and just figure that is part of the price I pay for using sub 4 oz poles. That was until I got these poles 9 months ago and have logged more then 500 tough, mostly all off trail miles so far without a single failure !!!! Yes, I have told all my hiking friends to get these and so far everyone else has been happy with the purchase as well! Thanks GG. Looking forward to trying more of your gear. These are very good quality poles, but the ultralight construction requires careful use. They don't need to be babied, but if you are really tougn on your poles look elsewhere. And be sure to use the o-ring to heep water out when using for shelter support. (Posted on 4/2/12)Value Quality Price - Great Poles just not for hiking. Review by Peter

I have owned two pairs of these poles over the years. In the past GG would do a one time replacement of a section on a broken pole "which happens VERY easily". It appears now not only has the price increased they are charging up to $45 for a replacement section plus $10 shipping. The second pair I had for only a few days and took it out on a cold day on PCT this weekend. The bottom snapped within a few hours. I'm 5'8 and 150 lbs buy no means a big guy. $200 plus dollars for a pair of light but inferior poles. I cant in good faith recommend this product to anyone. The LT4 Trekking Poles are by far the best, most lightweight trekking poles I have ever used. I took them on a hiking trip in France and Spain on the St. James Way, walking several hundred miles, over the Pyrenees as well as other mountain ranges, and navigating rocky coastal cliffs. Hiking this route in the past, I have always managed to lose my poles early in the trip, probably out of a subconscious desire to get rid of extra weight. Not so with the LT4s---they are so lightweight, I didn't mind carrying the extra few ounces at all. Besides being super light, they are sturdy and the grip is ergonomically correct for my hand--as in, very comfortable. The height adjustment mechanism is slightly "delicate," but no big deal if you read and follow the instructions. These poles really made a difference for hiking a long distance in comfort. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the LK4 Trekking Poles. (Posted on 11/14/11)Price Value Quality - You will never hike without them Review by Marty

Amazing poles - light and strong. Because they are so light they are easy to maneuver when in tricky rocky or steep sections of trails to give you assistance. After using them you will never go out without taking them. I have two other sets of higher end regular lighter weight poles that are now collecting dust. These things are so light compared to standard trekking poles that they have quite literally fallen out of my hand while trekking a long. As of lately I have been going on a pink kick since you can't loose pink in the wilderness. On my last trip I put these in my pack and got through a tricky section with brush and luckily checked my pack at the clearing and sure enough one was missing and luckily I found it in tact. I later purchased some florescent pink duct tape and wrapped it under the grip which should help in not loosing them. I will continue rocking these till I leave this beautiful place called earth.
