Air Suspension Pack Frame
- Product Review (submitted on May 2, 2013):
As an avid bikepacker and tourer, my gear selection is crucial, and my critiques of gear, especially packs, borders on ridiculous and pedantic. With the advent of a myriad of SUL shelters and sleep systems that weigh and pack to nothing, the perfect bikepacking pack has eluded me. I have tried such high end packs as from Arcteryx, Cilo Gear, Osprey, Granite Gear, Terra Nova, and others, and have come up wanton. After 500 bikepacking miles with the Gossamer Gear Kumo and this Gossamer Gear designed version of the Klymit Air Beam, I can happily say that my search is over. The enhanced lumbar contact and natural shape it provides is phenomenal, and its ability for me to always adjust it is a feature that no other system has. The carry on and off the bike is truly impressive under 30 pounds. I have not tested it above 30, however. What is most surprising, is after 5 days on the bike I have no hot spots or abrasions. I think there is something to the vibration dampening the Air Beam provides. The shape of this just seems ideal, and I am looking forward to some epics with the Kumo and Air Beam this year.
