Minimalist Ultralight Daypack
- Product Review (submitted on July 20, 2012):
My need arose attending scout camp - it was hot, making lots of water carry critical, but also needing the ability to tote other items you'd need throughout the day, like bandana, book(s), hat(s), sunscreen, small first aid kit, swim trunks/goggles, knife, small towel, etc.
The (somewhat large) fanny pack I had to use was too small, so I've since sought a day bag that was smaller & lighter than a school backpack to haul my junk. This is doing the job nicely! I have taken out the foam back and replaced it with a thicker sitlight pad cut to fit a little better. This gives it a bit of "backbone" and gives me a sitpad when needed.
It now also has an umbrella (one of my favorite all time pieces of gear), coffee thermos, and an arcteryx wind shell in it to compliment. It would be tough to also fit a sleeping bag, food, and tent IMHO but you could with the right choices. It is a good day bag to haul under 10#. If you require more room - intend to use it on short trips - then go with the Kumo bag.
I may have to treat myself too...
