The Sawyer Squeeze is pretty much taking the hiking world by surprise right now, and for good reason.
It provides the best weight to performance of any water filter on the market.
It is also the lightest way 0.1 Absolute Micron filter on the market (do your research on the difference between "Absolute" and "Nominal" when it comes to micron level filtering, and you will understand why 'Absolute' is far superior).
0.1 Absolute Micron is what the CDC indicates is necessary in order to properly filter Cryptosporidium and Giardia (the two biggest issues we face as hikers).
For me, the Sawyer Squeeze can filter a full 2 liter bag in exactly 1 minute and 10 seconds to filter. That is very impressive!
The Sawyer Squeeze bags have proven to be a bit non-durable for long distance hikers, so if you a long distance hiker, buy the Evernew Bags (which Gossamer Gear sells) as they mount perfectly onto the Sawyer Squeeze and are a lot more durable.
At the $60 dollar range it might seem a bit expensive, but remember this is a one-million-gallon rated filter. That is more than you will ever put through it, so this is a one-time-purchase, so $60 dollars is actually a very good price. If Sawyer would drop the price by $10 bucks and ditch the bags so we could use our own, that would be even better!
