LT4 Trekking Poles (adjustable)

Product Review (submitted on October 12, 2012):
I've had these ever since they became available. I gave away my Leki metal poles in favor of these. I took them on the PCT and proved they were not idiot-proof by snapping the lower section of one while descending Kearsarge Pass by foolishly levering it over an immovable rock. I knew better but still....... Carbon fibers have tremendous strength when force is applied parallel to them but are prone to catastrophic breaks when that force is applied perpendicular to the fibers. This is not a design fault by GG, but rather a limitiation of the material used. Every piece of gear has its limits (i.e. Cuben fiber) and it is the user's responsibility to know those and not to exceed them.

GG replaced the broken section for free and I've used them for several years on the PCT and CT without further problems.

Now if they only weren't so expensive........but they are worth the price. Other hikers I've met are amazed at the ultra-light weight.
