Unfurl 47 square feet of a catenary cut design, offering a slightly curved ridgeline for less wind disturbance, rain deflection, and weight savings. The pocket-sized dimensions when packed away make it classic shelter for the ultralight purists.

What kind of shelter is the Twinn Tarp and who is it for?
The Twinn Tarp is a minimalist open shelter for ultralight purists. If you're counting grams and comfortable in open shelters, this is the one.

Does the Twinn Tarp offer bug protection?
No, it's an open tarp. It does include bug net loops at each end so you can pair it with a separate bug net for full insect coverage.

What is a catenary cut and why does it matter?
A catenary cut uses a slightly curved ridgeline rather than a flat one. This reduces wind disturbance, improves rain deflection, and sheds a bit of weight compared to a straight-cut design. It also makes for a tighter, faster pitch.

What poles do I need?
The Twinn Tarp works with best with our LT5 Trekking Poles. Recommended heights are 118 cm at the head and 81cm at the foot for the standard pitch.

How waterproof is the Twinn Tarp?
ClearSkies™ is Gossamer Gear's custom shelter fabric: It combines 15D PFAS-free recycled Robic nylon with a 20D dope-dyed ripstop grid for exceptional durability, UV stability, and tear resistance at its weight. An advanced silicone and PU coating (1200 mm) fully seals the fabric and creates an extremely hydrophobic surface that shakes off morning dew with ease. 

This formulation also delivers a hydrostatic head rating of 4,923 mm—surpassing the average water resistance of a three-season tent and nearly matching the 5,000 mm standard of heavy-duty mountaineering shelters. It provides 2.35 times the water resistance of previous Gossamer Gear iterations while maintaining the same ultralight weight.
