Diane leads hikes for the Los Padres Chapter of the Sierra Club. She has solo-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, including one section where she hiked from her front door in Santa Barbara and hiked through the Los Padres Forest just to get to the PCT. She continues to section hike it after completing it. She has also hiked in Nepal, the Winds, Glacier National Park and the Kalalau Trail in Kauaii, Hawaii. She does most of her hiking in Santa Barbara and runs a blog about her trips. She has found that having lighter gear leads to a more satisfying and safer experience. More ground can be covered in a day, there is less chance of injury, and with such a small and unconventional pack, she can travel alone without looking like a solo woman backpacker. Ironically, she also has a hobby of lifting heavy weights.
