What pack would you recommend for someone who wants a pack like the Gorilla but needs a smaller size?

  2. Glen says:

Not sure if you mean less capacity or to fit a smaller person. For less capacity, next step down would be the Kumo – fabric not as tough, frameless. Or you could get the Gorilla, and just let your sleeping bag loft more to take up the space.

Great sale! Just ordered a Mariposa and can’t wait till it comes in. Also excited for the new shelters coming when do you think they’ll be out by?

It was 1/2 time during Notre Dame/ USC game. Thought I would once again check out mariposa.com as I had my eye on the new Mariposa this fall- load lifters/new fabric. Cool. I have purchased three other Mariposas from the time of carbon stays and can’t seem to break my addiction, even through times of sewing “issues.”
Imagine my surprise to find a 25% off sale on the pack! Bought it on the spot. Now I eagerly await my new pack and all the other stuff I just purchased (aqua mira, etc). Christmas came early this year… ho, ho, ho!
Now I have to wait till spring, darn it.

Hey on the Mariposa, is the weight limit truly 35 lbs? If I go over is it that it will be less comfortable or a design/fabric limit? I hike often with high 30s back weight so not going much over, but wondered on the true limit (some wiggle room with a full food supply/water?).

  6. Glen says:

There’s some wiggle room there… if you are used to carrying a little more, the pack construction should hold up to a load of 40 lbs.

Ordered a Mariposa and can’t wait. Thx!
