Hiya,
. Will send some pix.
I’m winter hiking and wildcamping in Glencoe, Scotland, this Feb … with my trusty Murmur (with air frame) and The One
all the best,
Elen
I just finished hiking all 100 of the Classic Hikes in Washington (took me ten years), so I am going back to some of my favorites, the first being Cloudy Pass near Stehekin on Lake Chelan.
The 275-mile Kungsleden in Arctic Sweden!
I regularly go winterhiking and I hope to walk the new C2C in South Sweden, organised by Jorgen Johanson in May 2013, plus other weekend hikes.
Kungsleden in Sweden. Continuing the process of cutting down on packweight. Last year it was a Gossamer Mariposa plus and minimalistic running shoes. Sweet
This year, turning my attention to the shelter..
Hike more! Winter camp at GrandFather mountain, Roan Mountain and Sterling Mountain in February. (All in NC) Hike Often!
I’m celebrating my 70th year on the Planet so I’m going to be hiking/backpacking with my Murmur (and loaning my Gorilla pack to my son) for 10 days in the Marble Mountains of northern California in May.
Do as much of the long trail as I can squeeze in between classes and working.
Such an awesome give-away. I could only be so lucky. I’d love to start venturing into UL backpacking but money is in short supply for sure. This would be extremely helpful. I’d loose 2 pounds just by switching to one of your packs. Anyways, good luck to me…haha…and everyone else entering. I already posted on Fb…just wanted to say thank you for the great contests and gear you are providing to the backpacking community.
I want to hike the Sierra High Route in 2013.
I’ll be on the PCT – Mexico to Canada – this year with my older Mariposa Plus.
Need the Mariposa 2012 to replace the old before the Sierras.
I am planning on finishing the last 477 miles of the PCT from Sierra City to Seiad in late July. Then for my 67th birthday a 30 day trek in Nepal that will include Everest base camp. All of coarse with my Mariposa!
My newborn son’s name, Kiyotaka, means “clarity one gains in tall mountains”.
CHALLENGE: Lack of light weight, safe, comfortable infant and toddler hiking skills and gear.
RESOLUTION: Spend 2013 helping my now 12-pound son hike the light way, from the very beginning.
GOAL: So that when he grows up, terms like “ultralight / SUL / XUL” become irrelevant, almost unthinkable to him. All he will need to think about, is whether he wants to spend time with the mountains.
MILESTONES:
• Analysis performed on lightweight infant gear by his 4-month mark
• Article(s) written on stories and best practices by his 6-month mark
• Introduce him to the mountains by his 7-month mark
• Stress test my analysis and best practices, refine them by EOY
This year I do coast to coast and packraft in Scotland.I’ll take the tarp spinntwinn and as always my Mariposa pack. I’ll start in Morar and will finish in Pitchlory. This is my first adventure in whitewaters, I’m excited.
Warm regards
All the way along the Pyrenees this year, with my faithful Gorilla, Riksack and Spinntwin..
I am finishing my last section of the AT that I started 10 years ago before I begin a Nursing program in the fall. Kent, Ct to Mount Katahdin Baby!!!!!
I’m going to hike the last part of the Via Alpina Red trail from near Geneva to Monaco
I’ll be using my Gossamer Gear trekking poles this spring, while walking 1000K, from Sevilla to Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
I am planning on taking two weeks off from work in September to hike the John Muir trail.
I will be Hiking the Seven Lakes Basin and to Enchanted Valley this summer. Can’t wait! Thanks for the opportunity! Go light!

After dealing with surgery/chemo for 2 bouts of cancer in the past 5 years I’m just looking forward to getting back outdoors. No specific thoughts/plans in terms of trails to take, number of peaks to bag or distance to hike – perhaps that will come in time – just going to enjoy it all one step at a time.
Pacific Crest thru hike this summer and a move to Washington so Ill be spending as much time as i can in the North cascades and the surrounding area, stoked on your gear!
