Welcome Guthook to the Trail Ambassador Family

Meet Guthook, aka Ryan Linn, our latest addition to the Trail Ambassador family.  Ryan is a long-distance backpacker, dedicated to ultralight hiking and spreading stories of the trail. He got his start with lightweight packing during a through-hike of the Appalachian Trail in 2007, then honed his abilities on the New England Trail in 2009 (on which he was one of the first to complete a through-hike). His backpacking adventures continued with the Pacific Crest Trail in 2010, and will undoubtedly add more long-distance hiking trails in the years to come. In the meantime, he spends most of his time in his home of Northern New England, piling on the miles and ever searching for a way to go lighter without sacrificing comforts.  Check out more about him at his Trail Ambassador page.

A fine addition to the Gossamer staff! I assure you Ryan has a proven UL track record, logging many of his miles under “less than desirable” weather conditions, yet always displaying his powerfully contagious positive attitude. Ryan is quite the experienced & tenacious hiker & backpacker – but you hardly know it by watching him chat with novice hikers he meets along the way – humbly exchanging tales and always eager to learn anything he can from even the least among us. Yet another reason I really like & truly respect the Gossamer Gear gurus.

Ryan writes great trip reports. Hope I run into him on one my trips to NH — it would be great to see another ultralighter on the trail…
