Join Trail Ambassador Dave “Lucky” Brunstein on a two night backpacking trip to Keet Seel, a beautiful sandstone canyon, a babbling desert creek, and very well preserved cliff dwellings.
We’ll drive up after work on Friday and car camp at Navajo National Monument north of Tuba City.
On Saturday morning, after a ranger orientation, we’ll hike the moderate 8.5 miles to a camp site across from the ruins. The trail heads up pretty Betatakin Canyon with numerous creek crossings and some minor ups and downs. We’ll stop at a cool waterall for lunch.
After we set up camp, we’ll meet the ranger and enjoy a guided tour of Keet Seel, The site is pretty amazing and the Navajo ranger will answer all of your questions about the ancient Anastazi inhabitants.
On Sunday, we’ll get a VERY early start and hike the same way out so we can join the 10:30 am Betatakin ruin tour. This ruin may be even better than Keet seel! We’ll be on the road home by Noon.
