Join Trail Ambassador Julie LePage for a section hike along the Cohos Trail; a relatively new, 162 mi hiking trail system that runs through unexplored territory between Bartlet, NH and southern border of Canada. We’ll be hiking each of the nine sections over a series of weekends, traveling from the southern end to the north terminus – a passport is not needed, just your sense of adventure. Join us for the whole series, or for a single section. For this 3rd section of the Cohos Trail, we’ll car camp our first night (Friday) in Jefferson NH, and hike a 2 day backpack along the Kilkenny Ridge. Starting in Jefferson Village on Saturday morning, we’ll hike up Mt. Starr King, Waumbek, Mt Weeks South, Middle and North peaks. On Day 2 we’ll continue along the ridge to Terrace Mtn, Mt. Cabot, the Horn, Unknown Pond and down to York Pond. (Day 1: 10.5 mi, 4000ft EG. Day 2: 11.5 mi, 3300ft EG) Prior experience backpacking on similar terrain/milage is required. Be prepared to stealth camp or to tent in primitive areas and be one of the first to hike this rugged new trail system. More about the Cohos Trail: https://www.cohostrail.org/.
