Glen will launch into a screening of the professionally produced “Ultralight Makeover” DVD, where Glen takes an experienced backpacker on a weekend trip and reduces her pack weight before your very eyes! Following the short DVD, Glen will launch into his outline of how to lighten your own pack weight. He will examine the different considerations that allow reduction of pack weight, review potential weight savings in “The Big Three”, and discuss weights of food and water. The presentation will close by touching upon the “comfort” and “safety” objections to ultralight backpacking, and opening for questions. Handouts will include an outline (he is an engineer, after all), a list of website resources mentioned in the talk (so you don’t have to try and write them down) and a copy of Glen’s personal gear list (base pack weight of under 6 lbs). As if that weren’t enough, Glen usually gives away fun prizes at his presentations.
