Join Gossamer Gear Trail Ambassador Whitney Allgood” LaRuffa as he tells his tales of circling 4 cascade volcanoes; Mt Hood, Mt St Helens, Mt Adam’s and Mt Rainier. Allgood will share route information, trip details, planning aids, pictures and tales from the trails in this informative talk.  The trails covered will be the Timberline Trail-39 miles, the Loowit Trail-32 miles, Round the Mountain Trail-38.5 miles, and the Wonderland Trail-97 miles.

Oregon: Ultra-Lightweight Backpacking Clinic

Are you struggling up trail under a heavy pack? Still carrying your old gear from the 1990’s? Do your knees hurt after a day on trail from a heavy pack? Do you want to become an Ultra Light Backpacker, but don’t know where to begin?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions then this clinic is perfect for you.

Gossamer Gear Trail Ambassador Whitney “Allgood” LaRuffa will give be leading an discussion of Ultra Light backpacking philosophies, gear and techniques to help you get out on trail with less weight on your back. After the presentation Allgood and Staff From Next Adventure will provide pack shakedowns where they will work with you 1 on 1 to help you personally review your gear and look at ways to save weight and discuss options for changing out to lighter options.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their backpacks packed as if they were setting out on a trip (minus food and water). There will be scales on hand to weigh packs at the start and finish of the shakedowns so you can see right away how much weight you have cut.

Washington: Hiking the Chinook Trail Presentation

Join Gossamer Gear Trail Ambassadors Liz “Snorkel” Thomas, Whitney “Allgood” LaRuffa, and Brian “Tomato” Boshart for a presentation on their hike of the Chinook Trail. These three were the first to thru-hike the full 290-mile trail. This presentation is part of the Chinook Trail Association’s Annual Meeting. Brunch will be served at noon. Oregon: Shorter Thru-Hikes For the Working Stiff

Join Trail Ambassador Whitney LaRuffa for a talk about shorther thru-hikes that can be completed by people with careers and families.  I will be covering 3 shorter trails that one can do in the standard 2 weeks of vaction time a year: the John Muir Trail, The Wonderland Trail and the Tahoe Rim Trail.  We’ll talk timing, permits and how to get them, resupply options and enjoy some tales form the trails and amazing pictures.
