Santa Barbara Hikes by Diane Soini

We at Gossamer always love to toot our Trail Ambassador’s horns, and T.A. Diane Soini has written a great book about hiking in Santa Barbara, California. The book contains 23 of Santa Barbara’s favorite hikes. Here is a brief description of the book- “these hikes will lead you to creeks, waterfalls, hot springs, sandstone rock formations, peaks and amazing views. After taking these hikes, you’ll know why Santa Barbara has some of the best hiking anywhere and lots of it!” Check out a link to purchase the book and learn more about it  HERE and enjoy!

I really need to get on it about buying this book! I’m an avid hiker in the Santa Barbara area and I am absoltuely thrilled there is a book out there now about all the amazing trails the city has. They all range but favorites would be Cold Springs, San Ysidro and Seven Falls. In the spring time it is the best place to be, especially seven falls with the water fall !! I travel to SB all the time for out door activities such as hiking. I tend to want to stay in places that are close by, like the Sandman Inn (www.thesandmaninn.com). Nearby and affordable!

I have to agree with Aja, this book seems incredibly helpful. I had no idea Santa Barbara had so much literature about their hiking country! Though it is quite excellent, it deserves a book or a few. I hike there relatively often with old college friends from my UCSB time whenever I come to town to visit. Great times! Maybe there is a hike or two we have yet to hit and the book would be an excellent guide! Can I order this online? I’ll be looking into this soon enough for my next trip into town. I’ll be staying at the South Coast Inn (www.goleta-hotel.com). One of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in Santa Barbara!

Santa Barbara is the place to be for hiking-any time of the year too! This book seems helpful in more than one way which is a necessity when a first time hiker or even a seasoned veteran who may have forgotten a few things! Jaime had the right idea when she went to UCSB-hiking all the time was the way to go. I went to Westmont but we were all in the same boat when it came to getting the most out of the city we were living in so luckily for four years! Now whenever I come back to visit I know where to go and what to avoid! Hiking is always at the top of my list, especially a few hikes. Always stay at the Sandman Inn (www.thesandmaninn.com). Inexpensive and the place to be for hiking in the area.

I’m gonna have to pick up this book the next time I am in town. I haven’t been hiking in so long and honestly it’s like a crime in my book. I’ve always wanted to go hiking in Santa Barbara! Those mountains looks stunning and I bet venturing through them on a sunny day is the best way to spend the day! I was just in town so this is a bit of a disappointment I didn’t know about this sooner, I bet it would of been really helpful! My family and I stayed at the South Coast Inn (www.goleta-hotel.com). Elegance at its finest and close to a great bike path that takes you right downtown!

Book on hikes in Santa Barbara? Count me in! I’ve always been a hiker of the area, even after I moved away about ten years ago, I still take the time to go back and just get in a few trails to just scratch my itch for it. These days my life is a lot less hiking and more work but maybe some time soon I’ll be able to get out there. This book would be a nice reminder and motivator as well. I would also have to agree with the above comments too, the Sandman Inn is a great place to stay for quick trips. I’ve stayed there a few times because I didn’t really want to spend that much money and it was great!

I’ve always been a big fan of the Santa Barbara area, anything that has to do with getting outdoors and enjoying their great weather and sensational area is what I like to do. That and anything to get me out of the city. Hiking is by far one of my favorite things to do whenever I am in town and this year I’ll be there during Fiestas and I couldn’t be more excited. I’ll be staying at the best place in town- the South Coast Inn (www.goleta-hotel.com) since it is the best buy in town!
