Christopher Graf
Christopher fell in love with the outdoors at a very young age in the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York. Roaming the hardwood forests, rolling hills, lakes and streams as a youth uninhibited, he would grow to appreciate the solitude, peacefulness, and diverse beauty our natural landscape provided. Upon moving to the Kitsap Peninsula of Washington State in 2003, the call of the mountains, especially those of the Olympics, continuously beckoned. As a result, he has trekked many miles of trail in the Olympics and it was here he started paring pack weight thereby increasing comfort, trail miles, and the amount of scenic beauty seen of this wondrous and unique landscape. Predominantly a user of tarps he has found them not only as comfortable (even in the PNW) as a traditional shelter, but feels closer or more in touch with nature as well.
Home: Port Orchard, WA
Favorite Training Ground: Olympic National Park & Forest. The Olympics are truly diverse allowing an adventurer the option of starting a day in a Temperate Rain Forest and ending it in a Sub-Alpine/Alpine Zone or Pass taking in all the changes in both flora and wildlife as one transgresses through one zone into the next.
Current Plans: In 2010 Christopher will be hitting trails in the Olympic, Mount Rainier, & Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Parks. Additionally, as his daughter will be turning ten, he plans to start exposing her to more remote sections or destinations within these pristine areas of wilderness as she has expressed a growing interest towards the great outdoors.
