Lisa Stano

Raised in suburban Detroit, Lisa didn’t discover her love for hiking, biking and all things non-motorized until spending two years in rural Madagascar.  Since then, walking and running have been her preferred means of transportation – whether from village to village, or from Mexico to Canada on the PCT in ‘07.  While long-distance foot travel quickly became a habit, runner’s knee post-PCT kept her off the trails for a couple of years.  In a last ditch effort, she finally swapped her supportive trail runners for minimalist sneakers and relearned how to hike and run 30-40 mile days.  Now with the CDT calling and happy knees, she’s concentrating on paring down her base weight to move faster, cover more ground and keep her joints healthy at the same time.

Home: Portland, OR

Age: 32

Favorite Training Ground:   Living between the Cascades and the Oregon Coast, I head in either of these directions as much as possible.  I’m also up for any and all hikes that end in a Timberline Lodge breakfast buffet.

Current Plans: The CDT and portions of the North Country Trail all beckon.
