is an avid backpacker, outdoor blogger, and photographer who got back into lightweight backpacking about five years ago. Since then, he’s section hiked hundreds of miles of the Appalachian Trail from Connecticut to Maine, completed an end-to-end of The Long Trail in Vermont, and hiked across Scotland in the 2010 TGO Challenge.

Favorite Training Ground: White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire. The granite peaks and dense forests of the Whites are my 4 season playground for hiking, backpacking, and mountaineering. I try to get up there weekly to challenge myself on long hikes or climbs and to test out new UL backpacking gear. I’m very lucky that it’s only a two hour drive from my house to Franconia Ridge, and less than three hours to the foot of Mt. Washington and the Presidential Range.
Current Plans: To continue hiking more sections of the Appalachian Trail, working my way south into New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and to Redline all 1400+ miles of hiking trails in the White Mountain Guide.
