I was fortunate enough to have a career in the fire service where I never considered a shift as work but more an adventure. Now that I’m retired I find my adventures by hiking and cycling. In 2010 I was able to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail with my son “Trail Trash”. It was an amazing experience that I didn’t want to end. I especially like linking trails together to make loops or long hikes. In 2012 I linked the SC Foothills Trail, the Bartram Trail and the AT together for a 475 mile trip. I hike regularly with my Scout Troop. Twice I’ve been asked to serve as a crew advisor for a Philmont Scout Ranch Trek. This past year we hiked in the Wilson Creek Area on the MST, the Uwharrie Trail and the Neussiok Trail also part of the MST.
Trail Name: EZ Hiker

Website: Back on the Trail Again
Outdoor Organization Involvement: Boy Scouts of America – Scoutmaster | Piedmont Hiking and Outing Club
Favorite Training Ground: The Uwharrie Mountains are just a short drive from my home. Southwest Virginia is also close enough for a quick two to three day hike.
Current Plans: I’m planning over the next couple of years to explore the trails at Linville Gorge and the Mountain to Sea Trail that links it to Mount Mitchell and the Black Mountain Crest Trail.
