Home: Cleveland Heights, OH
Outdoor Organization Involvement: Scoutmaster at Boy Scouts of America | Member and Active Trip Leader at Northeast Ohio Backpacking Club | Master Educator at Leave No Trace | Life Member at Appalachian Trail Conservancy | Allegheny Chapter Member at North Country Trail Association
Favorite Training Grounds: As often as he can, he gets out for weekends or even 3-4 day trips in western and central PA, SE Ohio, and WV and VA. His favorite “local” hikes are the Black Forest trail and any trail in the eastern Quehanna Area, both in PA.
Current Plans: Next weekend, April 26-28, Rob will be attending the MAHHA hammock hanger gathering at Pine Grove Furnace State Park in PA, after which he will hike with some other hangers SOBO on the AT from 4/28 to 5/1. Say hello if you’re in the neighborhood. Later in May, Rob will be giving an UL backpacking presentation at the Amsler Spring Shelter, in western PA on the North Country Trail, on Saturday morning, May 25th. He is now preparing to take on the 75-mile option of the Allegheny 100 fundraiser for the NCT (June 2013), having survived the 50-mile option last year. He will do his first backpacking in Glacier NP in September, and is planning a thru-hike of the JMT in 2014. More distant plans are to hike the New England sections of the AT and/or the Long Trail.
