Warner Springs Monty (Monty Tam) is the only hiker to ever thru-hike the entire Pacific Crest Trail with an average baseweight of under 5 pounds.  He has 14,000 lifetime hiking miles with over 10,000 of those on the Pacific Crest Trail.  His 2009 Pacific Crest Trail gear list included a Gossamer Gear SpinnTwinn tarp, NiteLight sleeping pad, Polycryo ground cloth, and a Mariposa™ Plus Backpack.  At 8 pounds, he claims this is the most COMFORTABLE he has ever hiked on the PCT.  He was the winner of the 2005 Gossamer Gear G-Force Contest.  He has two gear lists available on our site.
