Sizing & Fit
The Grit 28 is available in one size and while this pack performs for a wide range of body sizes, it best fits a torso between 17" - 20".
This fastpack is designed to be worn higher and tighter than traditional hiking packs.
Torso length: Start at the C7 vertebra at the base of your neck. The best way to find this is to bend your neck and feel the first bump along the base of your neck. This bump is where you will want to start your measurement.
Next, you'll want to find the midpoint between your iliac crest. To find your iliac crest, cup your hipbones on both sides and find the center point on your spine. This midpoint is where your thumbs should be pointing.
Finally, you'll need help measuring from the C7 vertebra to your iliac crest. From there, you'll have your torso measurement.

The Grit 28 Fastpack is turning out to be my favorite Fastpack for long cross country ski outings and winter trail runs. It's up front pouches, one with a zipper, allows for easy access to what you need on the move in cold weather. A phone and water bottle slip in and out easily to those front pouches. Side pouches are roomy enough for a larger water bottle and other necessary gear. The outer pouch on the back has a tear resistant fabric and is easy to slip another bulky layer into. The roll down top is convenient and the zipper pouch on the back, is perfect for a headlamp, hand warmers, keys, id; all the things you want to grab easily & quickly and not have loose in your pack. I kinda love it!!!
Last August, I flew across the Atlantic with nothing but this bag and hiked 10 days hut to hut from Chamonix to Zermatt. I loved having my soft flasks in front, and while I thought I might miss having a hip belt, the fit was great and it all just worked. Loaded less, it feels like a well balanced running vest. It's an incredibly versatile bag. Just buy it.
I love my Grit pack! It is by far the most comfortable pack I have ever owned. It has many unique and useful features and is very easy to use and to get in and out of. The pack is very cleverly designed with so many features that I continue to appreciate. The front vest pockets fit water bottle, phone, electrolytes and snacks, keeping everything within easy reach. The two generously sized water bottle pockets on the sides are perfect. Love the light weight and waterproof tough fabric. The top front zipper holds my main ten essentials that I access most often. The front stretch pocket is made of incredibly durable stretch fabric and is sized well for my tri-fold sit pad and is sized large enough to stow a shirt and wipes and sunscreen. Thank you for designing such a clever and durable ultralight pack, weighing only one pound!
An excellent pack! I was able to put my usual summer 'Kumo 36' load in here snuggly. The shoulder pockets are excellent - lots of use. The small access pocket somes to use very often. Solid materials. It's a very comfortable fit.
I just wish the side pockets let 2 smart water bottles instead of just one, and accessing them are hard - but that's likely due to how all running style packs sit up that high.
I definitely recommend this for day hikes and overnights/weekends!
Excellent fast pack and true UL backpack. This and my Fast Kumo are the only packs I will use, keeping food and water up front and accessible so no stopping needed during the day. This carried 4 days food, 1L-2L of water, plus all my minimal overnight gear without any issues at just around 13 lbs total. The fit is amazing, much like a run vest. The front harness is priceless for keeping your water (in my case, 2 x 500ml bottles) and phone easily at hand without having to stop. I used the other additional pocket opposite the phone pocket to store my wrappers/garbage. I wasn't sure I was going to use the top single strap (black in the photos) due to the side buckles on the roll top, but it was great for packing in some bagels to friends already outside adventuring, and later, kept my puffy stored on top when I wanted to shed it quickly without having to unroll the top, re-roll, you get it. Just slid the jacket under, sinched it down, voila! Without a waist belt it worked flawlessly, giving my gut ample room to move quickly without being restricted or getting sweaty from straps, but it still has loops where I could attach the fast belt from my Fast Kumo so even if I loaded this with maybe 20lbs it would be awesome. I think between this and my Fast Kumo I can easily range 12-25 lbs of load between the two, using the Kumo for the heavier loads with a belt, but both having the priceless front pockets I will never leave home without. 10/10! GG never dissapoints when it comes to simple, well-thought-out designs for UL use.
I fall into the category of doing 2 to 3 bigger backpacking trips a year, but then try to get out for quick overnight trips about once a month. When I do those, many times its in weather that doesnt get below 50 degrees. So I wanted a fast, simple pack that could carry 15lbs total, including food and water for those occasions. As soon as this line up was introduced, I knew I had to get my hands on one. It is perfect. And to be honest, I can get way more out of it than I thought I was going too.
Now, that said, I have 3 mysteries that I would like to debunk: 1) the zipper phone pocket, even though they say it will fit a newer phone, DOES NOT! However, that does not make it useless. It's good for securing keys, ID, or emergency gels or hydration, etc., and your phone can slip into the pocket behind it. People, if you think any fastpack chest zipper pocket will hold a phone you are wrong. Get past it, and you realize it should not be a decisioning factor. 2) Many claim the hip belt is a waist. They are wrong also. Sure, they are stretch mesh so not to used for anything that could get wet, but they are MUCH larger than one would imagine, and I do find it helpful distributing the weight of the pack, although it be ever so slightly, it does help. 3) The back pad acts as a frame, as long as the proper weight guidelines are followed. I did not miss my framed pack on my first adventure. Very very surprised by this. Well done.
Otherwise, the pack is EXACTLY as advertised and works perfectly in a warm weather, overnight or two, situation where you don't need a 45L or larger. I think I'm going to push the boundaries of this pack in the near future with a 20lb set up and see if I can get this into shoulder season. If so, it could change the game.
Been playing around with this pack and it's an excellent choice for fast and light peak bagging, summit pushes on the big mountains, and long distance trail runs. It has enough capacity for a minimalist overnighter and has room for all the essentials while weighing very little. I use pack goats for various adventures and this pack is especially great for carrying my essentials when we are out in every situation; whether it be conditioning on the trail or spending a few days out in the backcountry. Overall, would highly recommend.
Recently took this pack on a week long trip through the Valley of Fire and Red Rocks in Nevada and I was absolutely blown away. Small enough that it fits snug on your back even through hard core scrambling or trail running, but with enough room to carry everything you need for the day. Very impressed and will absolutely buy again.
